Mukteshwar Dham Temple

This 350-year-old Shiva temple is one of the most revered landmarks in Mukteshwar. Perched at an altitude of around 2,312 metres, it offers wide Himalayan views stretching from Nanda Devi to Trishul peaks. The temple is believed to be the site where Lord Shiva granted immortality—or mukti—to a demon, which gives the town its name. The climb to the top involves a short stone stairway lined with deodar trees, and the calm atmosphere makes it ideal for sunrise prayers and quiet reflection.

Chauli Ki Jaali

A natural rock formation just behind the Mukteshwar Dham Temple, Chauli Ki Jalli is famous for its sheer cliff face and panoramic vantage point. Legend says that women who pass through a small gap in the rock are blessed with fertility, a belief that draws curious visitors every year. Adventure seekers come for rock climbing and rappelling, while photographers love the dramatic drop-offs and sweeping views of the Kumaon valley. On a clear day, you can spot Almora town and the faraway snow-clad ranges.
